True to its legacy of grand Christmas displays, Ayala Land unveils yet another milestone for Vertis North, an estate in Quezon City – Vertis Northern Lights. The show aims at bringing people together in the spirit of the joys brought by the Yuletide season.
Giving the northerners a reason to celebrate, this Christmas light show in Quezon City is the very first in the area. Before, the Northerners were only able to watch Ayala’s lights show through live feeds shown on giant screens. Now, they can have their own light and sound spectacle patterned over the Festival of Lights in Makati minus the need to travel too far to witness the spectacle.
Estate Head of Vertis North, Jay Teodoro, said that the display would “allow residents of the north to experience and immerse themselves in the sights, colors, and sounds of Christmas in Quezon City.”
Vertis Northern Lights
Launched in November 2017, the bedazzling Christmas light show features a giant cathedral that looks similar to Paoay Church in Ilocos draped in thousands of colorful pixel lights as its centerpiece.
A well-loved Christmas tradition ‘simbang gabi’ inspires the concept of Northern Lights. Renowned designer Zenas Pineda executed the overall decor. Additionally, Voltaire de Jesus, the award-winning Lights and Sounds Director who also helmed Ayala Triangle Gardens’ light festival, designed the cathedral.
It veered away from the traditional red and green Christmas and incorporated as many colors as possible. The cyber spheres, intelligent lights, laser lights and meteor lights inside the cathedral created various hues.

Vertis Northern Lights also showcases lasers that mimic the Aurora Borealis much to the delight of the Northerners.
Fascinatingly, each light can be controlled individually to sync their twinkling effects with the sound.
Christmas medleys are played to complement the dancing lights throughout the four-hour show. Three distinct themes make up the accompanying musical medleys. These are Pinoy Fiesta by Roy del Valle, Traditional Christmas by Von de Guzman, and Techno Christmas by Tris Suguitan.

Each medley has its own pace, mood , nd rhythm. Pinoy Fiesta features Christmas songs that all Filipinos know by heart. Traditional Christmas includes classic Christmas songs for watchers of different nationalities to appreciate. Finally, Techno Christmas targets the millennial viewers.
Indeed, there is something for everyone!
Vertis Northern Lights ran from 6 to 10 pm. It will run until the first week of January 2019. The four-hour show has 30-minute intervals.
