Ayala benefits of green open spaces are well-documented to promote well-being, especially among people living in urban spaces, where it is a rarity. It’s no wonder more and more cities and communities are adopting car-free weekends as a way to promote access to previously car-occupied streets.

The 29-hectare Vertis North mixed-use estate by Ayala Land recently launched its “Weekend Street Vibe,” a series of community activities and programs meant to encourage the community to get some fresh air, move about, and spend quality time outdoors.

As a part of its commitment to making select areas of the development conductive to leisurely activities, every Saturday and Sunday, the estate closes a portion of its main thoroughfare, Vertis Drive, to allow pedestrians to enjoy street activities like biking, karting, roller skating, jogging, running, and other physical mobilities alongside community-centric events.

Since the event is all about elevating the weekend experience for all, regardless of age or skill level, accessibility to equipment ensures that anyone can join in the fun and experience the thrill of outdoor activities-with everyone’s safety in mind, of course.

One can either bring their own gears or rent safety gears and equipment at the venue. The activity area is also conveniently located right beside Ayala Malls, allowing families to easily walk (or roll) to and from the mall.

A section of Vertis Drive will be temporarily closed to vehicles starting from 8 a.m. on Saturday morning until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, to host these activities. The road closure aims to provide ample space for attendees without any vehicular disruptions, fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

This initiative encourages the community to enjoy the safe and vibrant environment teeming with trees and other greenery. This is also to foster healthy and mindful living among residents through exercise and recreational activities.

Seeing the success of the first weekend, Vertis North is inviting everyone to head over and try out the activities and embrace the outdoor thrill.
